The Skull Series

The Artist VIII honors her heritage with a collection of skulls inspired by Mexican traditions. Each year, on November 2nd, Mexicans celebrate "Día de los Muertos" (The Day of the Dead), a time when grief and love intertwine through artistic expression, acts of kindness, traditional foods, and the iconic figure of "La Catrina"—a female skeleton originally illustrated by Mexican artist Guadalupe Posada in the early 1900s.

The celebration is marked by the creation of altars, skeleton art, and, above all, a profound expression of love for the departed, as well as for those who silently carry the weight of loss and sorrow in their lives.

This vibrant day takes over the season with color and skulls, and the Skulls by VIII are designed to complement the celebration with original characters of a kind that echo the traditional sugar skulls—sweet confections made to honor the occasion.
